Caitlin is a Boulder native and graduated in 2016 from the University of Colorado with a degree in education.
The turn to technology was an unexpected one.
"It's so funny," she says. "I thought I was going to make a career out of teaching high school students, but I ended being the one that was taught a thing or two."
In fact, her ability to learn was what stood out when she applied for a project management position at Gunner Technology.
Each applicant must complete a test project to prove they have technical / coding skills - no matter what role they are applying for.
Without a technical background, the Gunner team was wary of her ability to complete the project, but she did - on time and with high quality.
"I was so nervous!" she says. "I mean, I was applying for a role in project management. Not coding! But I took the assignment and quickly taught myself enough to get it done."
And it ended up serving her well.
"I hadn't even been here a month yet and one of our clients accidentally introduced a bug with some bad data," she says. "We're on call 24/7, but I could not get a hold of a developer on the project. So I sucked it up and went in there and patched the bug - all within our SLA."
